Junior Expert Institutional Donor Relations*

in Bonn 

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. Following a period of one year in Bonn, an assignment in a non-European Welthungerhilfe project country is foreseen in the second contract year.

As Junior Expert you will support Welthungerhilfe's Institutional Donor Relations Unit in the acquisition, planning and processing of public funding - especially in the application and reporting process. Through your work you will contribute to ensure  financing of humanitarian and development programs. In addition, you will gain insights into strategic planning of the Institutional Donor Relations Unit and into the project work of Welthungerhilfe worldwide.

Your responsibilities

  • Support in assuring quality of concept notes, proposals and reports for institutional donors (in particular funding of German public donors)
  • Support in Relation Management and handling of institutional funding, in particular funding of German public donors
  • Creation of best practice solutions and support of knowledge management for the development of project and program proposals
  • Support of the strategy development of the Institutional Donor Relations Unit 
  • Participation in thematic working groups within the Institutional Donor Relations Unit and the program department
  • Support in onboarding international colleagues
  • Support in the planning, implementation and documentation of donor events and meetings (including representation of WHH)

Your profile

  • A university or college degree in social sciences, development policy, international relations, economics or a related field
  • Initial experience in the planning and implementation of development cooperation or humanitarian aid measures, e.g. within the framework of an internship
  • Sound ability of editing texts and reports
  • Solid software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams, OneNote, SharePoint), experience with content management systems would be an advantage
  • Good coordination and organisational skills in an intercultural environment
  • Proactivity, team spirit and good communication skills
  • Ability to work in an intercultural environment
  • You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work
  • Very good command of spoken and written German and English; French language skills would be of great advantage
