Mission and objectives
UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to help and protection to a population of 5.7 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank, and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.
Context
Since the onset of the Gaza emergency, UNRWA has faced a significant increase in demand for its services, creating a complex landscape for securing vital partnerships and funding. Reaching new audiences and converting them into active donors requires impactful creative content tailored for advertising, search, and organic social platforms.
To effectively raise funds and communicate urgent needs while safeguarding the Agency’s mandate and managing reputational risks, there is a pressing need for enhanced content creation strategies. These strategies will help articulate UNRWA's mission, engage potential donors, and mobilize support, ensuring that the Agency can effectively respond to the crisis and continue its critical work.
The UN Volunteer will drive acquisition-focused content creation, adapting campaign concepts into high-performing formats across Meta, Google, YouTube, and other platforms. They will work closely with the Digital Fundraising team and ad agencies to deliver effective advertising content that brings new donors into UNRWA’s supporter base.
