Background
This position is located in the UNDSS office in Baghdad / Iraq, locally administered by the UNDP.
The CCTV Operator will be performing variety of tasks while ensuring Safe and Secure environment for UN Premises personnel and assets. CCTV Operator duties are performed in eight (8) hour rotating shifts which are covering posts on 24/7 basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Provide continuous coverage of cameras, telephone and radio communications systems and associated recording units in the Control Center.
- Accurately document all relevant events observed, including on Suspected Hostile Surveillance cases, and report to the supervisors/team leaders in accordance with the urgency of the matter, as per SOP.
- Alert for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activity and reports these immediately.
Administrative support, Recordkeeping and Documentation:
- Maintain day-to-day logs and rosters. Initiates chronological logs of events during emergency situations.
- Assist with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information required for the analysis of the security situation by the GU Supervisor.
- Prepare daily and weekly work schedules and various periodic reports.
- When delegated, process Visitor Requests for approval as per SOP.
- Backstopping for deputy Team Leaders.
Incident and Emergency Response:
- In the event of emergencies and incidents, alerts relevant units and dispatch security personnel to the site under the direction of the supervisor.
The incumbent shall perform other duties within their functional profile, as deemed necessary, for the efficient functioning of the of the Office, Organization and the Guard Unit (GU).
Institutional Arrangement
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Security Associate, the CCTV Operator will be responsible for the above mentioned tasks. When on duty shift, CCTV Operator reports to the duty Team Leader - Guard Unit.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Secondary education is required.
- A university degree (bachelor´s degree) in Broadcast Journalism, Film, Communications, Photography, Social Science or another related field, will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years (with secondary education) of progressively professional experience in security operations, surveillance, or relevant field is required.
- Candidates with Bachelor´s degree will not require experience.
- Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc), database packages, Power BI and other computer based, web and smartphone applications.
- Good knowledge of CCTV systems, surveillance technology, and related software.
- Experience in the use of radio communications systems and knowledge of Country security codes.
- Prior relevant working experience within the UN system, embassy, an international organization or an international NGO.
- Familiarity with UN security SOPs, directives, and communication procedures.
- Experience in emergency response, first aid, or experience with the UN system or international organizations.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to identify potential security threats or unusual situations.
Required Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic or Kurdish languages is required.
