Context
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. Every year, the UNITE Campaign focuses on a specific theme. The campaign calls on citizens to show how much they care about ending violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence towards women.
UNDP cooperation with UNV has established a Special Programme Initiative, aiming at engaging UN Volunteers to support UNDP; in particular, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign in Istanbul (onsite support), and the workshop organized in Tirana, Albania (remote support).
The selected national UN Community Volunteers will assist UNDP team in Istanbul in:
• Workshops: Support UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub (IRH) in organizing a policy dialogue event in Tirana on SDG auditing, aimed at tracking and monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) progress at the local level, with specific attention to gender gaps. The workshop will bring together auditors from Supreme Audit Institutions, Ministries of Finance, and other key representatives. The event is planned to take place 4 - 5 December 2025.
