Organizational Setting
The Department of Management (MT) provides a "platform of services" that serves as a foundation for the successful delivery of the IAEA's scientific and technical programmes. Its mission statement is as follows\: "MT is a partner and a business enabler that champions change and efficiency, leveraging a common purpose". Thus, among other support activities, it assists a scientific manager in recruiting the right expert, helps a technical officer coordinate the purchase of radiation equipment, and ensures that all Board documents are translated and distributed on a timely basis to Member States.
One of the main functions assigned to the IAEA by its Statute is to foster the exchange of scientific and technical information and the dissemination of knowledge in the nuclear field among Member States.
To facilitate the effective exchange and dissemination of information relevant to the IAEA's work and mandate, the Division of Conference and Document Services (MTCD) coordinates and supports the implementation of these activities for its users and clients, both internal and external, by organizing meetings and conferences, issuing documents in the six official IAEA languages, i.e. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, and editing, printing and distributing publications.
The MTCD Language Services Section (LSS) is responsible for coordinating, managing and delivering language services for the Agency. The Section promotes multilingualism and maintains language standards of the organization through editing and translation of Policy Making Organ (PMO) documents, incoming and outgoing Secretariat documents and correspondence, web articles and advocacy material, Agency publications and other content.
Main Purpose
Reporting to the Coordinator (Multilingual Output Production Team), the Multilingual Output Production Assistant proofreads and formats content for further dissemination.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Proofread content in Chinese in accordance with established quality control guidelines, ensuring accuracy and consistency by checking spelling, punctuation, grammar, syntax and completeness.
Archive and disseminate finalized content in accordance with the established processes.
Compile and process content, including Policy-Making Organs documents, incoming and outgoing correspondence, web articles, publications and various advocacy materials.
Check and format content, including tables and figures, to ensure accurate presentation.
Carry out other duties as required, such as aligning translated texts, transcribing statements, preparing files for use with translation software and providing backup.
Suggest improvements to work practices and workflows within the team and, as required, participate in discussions to agree on implementation of new practices and workflows to achieve efficient process delivery, while improving skills and keeping abreast of new technology.
In coordination with the Terminology Focal Point, perform any required tasks related to the maintenance of the central terminology database.
Under the supervision of the Coordinator, undertake tasks related to the processing of large and complex documents, including the compilation of such documents for the meetings of the IAEA Policy-Making Organs.
Under the supervision of the Coordinator, provide training and guidance to freelancers and other assistants.
Assist in identifying and addressing software-related problems.

Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
Completed secondary education.
Minimum of five years of relevant working experience.
Experience in proofreading and layout tasks is essential.
Perfect command of Chinese as mother tongue or principal language of education.
Knowledge of other UN languages (Arabic, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
Advanced knowledge of English.

Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 57876 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
