Mission and objectives
UNESCO's founding mission, which was shaped by the events of World War II, is to advance peace, sustainable development and human rights by facilitating collaboration and dialogue among nations.[It pursues this objective through five major programme areas: education, natural sciences, social/human sciences, culture and communication/information. UNESCO sponsors projects that improve literacy, provide technical training and education, advance science, protect independent media and press freedom, preserve regional and cultural history, and promote cultural diversity.
UNESCO assists in the translation and dissemination of world literature, helps establish and secure World Heritage Sites of cultural and natural importance, works to bridge the worldwide digital divide, and creates inclusive knowledge societies through information and communication.[14] UNESCO has launched several initiatives and global movements, such as Education For All.

Context
The Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-create open-source solutions that strengthen disaster resilience and inclusive education.
This assignment supports the Gamified and Simulation-Based Safety Trainings for Children project, jointly implemented by Tech4R and UNESCO Ukraine. The project aims to equip children aged 10–16 in frontline areas with safe, practical knowledge for emergency situations through gamified learning and augmented reality (AR) simulations.
Children in conflict zones often face recurring trauma and stress, which can hinder their learning and emotional stability. Therefore, all educational and visual materials in this project are designed and reviewed through the lens of psychological safety, ensuring that content is informative but non-traumatic, calm, and inclusive
The Psychological Safety & Child Education Volunteers will play a crucial role in guiding the design of storylines, visuals, and interactions to ensure they are safe, age-appropriate, and psychologically validating for all learners.
