Mission and objectives
World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and chang-ing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. As the international community has committed to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide still do not have enough to eat. Food and food-related assistance lie at the heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.
Context
The UN Volunteer will support the implementation of the Cash for Prevention of Malnutrition (C4P) project, which aims to improve nutritional outcomes through targeted cash assistance and Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) activities. The project involves collaboration with local cooperating partners (CPs), NGOs, government institutions, and other WFP units to ensure integrated support to beneficiaries. Key outcomes include improved beneficiary data management, enhanced community engagement, and strengthened capacity of local actors in nutrition and SBCC.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Associate, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Beneficiary Verification and Data Management
• Conduct field visits/ phone calls to verify the eligibility and status of beneficiaries to be enrolled in the Cash for prevention of malnutrition (C4P) project.
• Review and clean beneficiary lists to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project criteria.
• Support the organization and maintenance of beneficiary databases, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
• Flag inconsistencies or duplications in beneficiary data and propose corrective actions.
Community Engagement and Nutrition Support
• Sensitize cooperating partners’ teams and community members on nutrition-related topics, including the objectives and benefits of the C4P and Social Behaviour Change (SBC) project.
• Respond to nutrition-related queries raised by beneficiaries, referring complex issues to the supervisor.
• Assist in the implementation of nutrition awareness (SBC) sessions and community outreach activities.
Monitoring and Reporting
• Participate in regular monitoring visits to project sites to assess progress and identify challenges.
• Prepare and submit field visit reports, including findings from beneficiary verification and community feedback.
Coordination and Collaboration
• Liaise with local partners, NGOs, and government institutions to facilitate smooth implementation of nutrition activities.
• Collaborate with other WFP units to ensure integrated and coordinated support to beneficiaries.
• Attend coordination meetings and contribute to discussions on project implementation and improvement.
Other Duties
• Perform any other related tasks as requested by the supervisor to support the successful implementation of the C4P project.
