Context

The Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme mobilizes skilled digital volunteers to co-create open-source solutions that strengthen disaster resilience. This assignment focuses on building digital tools and dashboards that support real-time decision-making in disaster contexts.
Following large-scale damage to infrastructure in Ukraine, municipalities like Borodianka face challenges in managing, prioritizing, and monitoring recovery projects. UN-Habitat and Tech4R are developing a GIS-based dashboard that integrates project and environmental data into a dynamic visual platform. The Team Lead will support coordination of the team of community UN Volunteers (GIS specialists, data analysts, web developers, and visualization designers) to design, develop, and deliver the dashboard using open-source tools such as QGIS, GeoServer, and Leaflet. This platform will serve as a model for transparent recovery planning and data-driven resilience management. specialists) to deliver the platform and ensure quality, accessibility, and alignment with institutional needs.

Task description

The Volunteer will provide support to the project team in:

• Coordinating GIS, data integration, and visualization volunteers in developing the dashboard.
• Overseeing the setup of the geodatabase and dashboard architecture.
• Ensuring bilingual interface (Ukrainian and English) and alignment with UN-Habitat’s visual identity.
• Facilitating testing, quality assurance, and documentation processes.
• Preparing lessons-learned reports and handover documentation for replication across municipalities.
