Role Summary
The Project Coordinator leads and manages the implementation of field projects, ensuring strategic direction, management, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include team leadership, security oversight, and liaison with local authorities and stakeholders to achieve project objectives effectively. The role involves assessments, research, and partnership development in response to evolving needs.
Project Overview
Medair has been working in Madagascar since 2002 and is currently running multi-sector emergency projects in Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Health and Nutrition, Shelter and Disaster Risk Reduction in the Grand Sud, Grand Sud-Est and East of the country, to meet the needs of vulnerable communities, most of the time in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
Workplace & Conditions
Based out of Tana. Initially, South-East of Madagascar (Farafangana), with regular field trips to support our other base and Team in the South-West (Beloha)
Responsibilities:
- Support project identification and design, carrying out research and making recommendations for interventions. Facilitate collaboration with NGOs and authorities for effective project responses.
- Oversee project implementation, ensuring objectives, timelines, and budgets are met; guide managers and PMs in day-to-day decisions, and conduct monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, representing Medair in meetings and networks; facilitate partnerships and respond to evolving project needs effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to assess security risks, update protocols, and train staff on security measures, ensuring adherence to guidelines for team safety.
- Plan, construct, and manage project budgets in coordination with Project Managers; monitor spending and ensure compliance with donor regulations and financial guidelines.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:
- University degree in Management, Development Studies, Business Administration or relevant field.
- Minimum of two years post-qualification experience in a management position, preferably in a relief environment.
- Strong experience with report and proposal writing, and budgeting and financial reporting skills.
Advanced planning, assessment and analytical skills. Leadership and project management skills
- Strategic thinker, creative, open-minded, flexible, self-learner, good understanding of cross-cultural issues.
- Excellent French (spoken and written) and strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written).
