IRC Background: 

The Financial Capability & IDA Program Coordinator is responsible for implementing and strengthening a comprehensive financial literacy curriculum to equip refugees and immigrants with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to navigate the U.S. financial system. The Coordinator also manages a match-savings program (IDA) designed to increase families’ ability to save, foster participation in financial institutions, and support asset acquisition through grant-matched savings.

The role includes financial coaching, training facilitation, data and file management, and building partnerships with community organizations and financial institutions.

Major Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, adapt, and deliver culturally responsive financial literacy workshops and curriculum.
  • Provide individualized financial counseling and coaching to help clients meet goals such as budgeting, credit building, debt reduction, and saving.
  • Support clients in reviewing and improving their credit histories.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement for community-based financial education events.
  • Serve as local liaison for credit-building and consumer loan programs, including those offered by the Center for Economic Opportunity (CEO).
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, donors, and community partners.
  • Coordinate the IDA match-savings program, including intake, eligibility verification, and file management.
  • Guide participants through savings goals, account setup, and asset acquisition.
  • Manage the asset purchase and match disbursement process in line with program requirements.
  • Facilitate weekly food systems orientation sessions for new arrivals as part of the IDA orientation workshop series.
  • Oversee the administration of surveys and the collection of program data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor client progress and provide support for program completion.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and interns to strengthen program delivery.
  • Maintain timely and accurate client records and reporting in compliance with IRC standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and data security protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Social Work, Education, Public Administration, or related field (required or equivalent experience).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum two years of experience in financial literacy, social work, client services, or related fields.
  • Required: experience in client counseling, case management, or coaching.
  • Preferred: program coordination or leadership experience.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience delivering presentations and working cross-culturally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with data tracking and file management systems.
  • Proficiency in English required; bilingual ability strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations strongly preferred.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in English required; bilingual ability in Spanish, Dari, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Arabic, French, or other refugee/immigrant language preferred.

Certificates or Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license, active insurance policy, and access to reliable transportation.
  • Must possess or be eligible for a fingerprint clearance card per Arizona state law.

Working Environment:

  • A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Compensation: (Pay Range: $23 - $25) Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
