SOS Children’s Villages Ghana is a child welfare organization that provides stable, Family-Like Care (FLC) for children in need. We also provide social services for families at risk through our Family Strengthening Projects. Currently, we operate in four locations; Tema, Asiakwa, Kumasi, Tamale with the National Office in Accra. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and dynamic persons for appointment as:
Fundraising Officer
Duty Post: Asokore Mampong, Kumasi
Duration : 3 years contract (renewable based on performance and availability of funds)
Purpose: To provide leadership in the Fundraising efforts of the Organization, developing fundraising drives to solicit funds from individuals through selling the worthiness of the SOS Children’s Villages Ghana in support of its Strategic Vision.
Qualification and Experience
The ideal applicant must have:
• A first degree in Marketing or Humanities.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience in fundraising or Insurance sales
Skills & Competences
• Strong salesmanship skills
• Good communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strategic thinker combined with practical “ can do’’ attitude
• Strong analytical decision –making, time management and problem solving skills
Computer literacy-Microsoft Office Suite
Key Responsibilities
• Initiate contact with potential donors (corporations, individuals, churches, etc) through letter of inquiry (LOI), phone contacts, emails, letters, requests, etc to raise the profile and funds for SOS
• Solicit donations directly from potential donors, plan, arrange, and follow up on solicitations.
• Draft all fundraising-related correspondence and ensure that it reaches targeted recipients
• Request a face-to-face meeting and pursue innovative ways of cooperating with potential donors for funding opportunities
• Use all channels of fundraising, including social media, internet, mailing, campaigns, etc in accordance with the SOS Strategic Vision to recruit donors.
• Manage and promote relationships with donors and always provide quality responses as needed
• Manage the relationship with payroll giving agencies and other organisations to increase the number of committed givers who support the work of SOS.
• Ensure that regular updates, such as information, newsletters, notices, etc are sent to donors
• Become reliable and responsible to donors by sending financial reports to project-related donors on a timely basis
• Plan, organize and coordinate in liaison with Project Heads recognition events for donors
• Maintain accurate and timely records of all interactions with actual donors such as reports etc.
• Review and keep track of all donor incomes for accurate management reporting
• Manage the fundraising history and contracts with donors
• Contribute to the production of the Newsletter and distribution to projects and donors.
• Ensure the website fundraising and communications information is up to date.
• Liaise, coordinate, and collaborate with the communications officer for the creation and development of outreach materials for donor solicitations, acknowledgments, and fostering of donor relations.
• Contribute to the editing of donor brochures in conjunction with visits and events.
• Support Heads of Projects by reviewing and planning for fundraising events.
• Maintain healthy relations and coordination with all projects & departments in the organization.
