Job Description

Company:  IDB Invest
Posting End Date:  November 21, 2025

We improve lives

IDB Invest is the private sector arm of the IDB Group and an international financial institution committed to addressing the development needs of Latin America and the Caribbean. Our mission is to support sustainable enterprises and projects that deliver financial results while maximizing social and environmental impact in the region.

IDB Invest operates in 26 countries, structured across four geographic regions and three industry verticals: Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Intermediaries, and Corporates.

In support of a new transformative business model “Originate to Share” our shareholders recently approved a $3.5 billion capitalization. This will allow IDB Invest to significantly scale up its investments, nearly doubling annual financing from approximately $8 billion to $19 billion, and unlocking greater private sector participation to drive development and climate impact across the region.

About this position

IDB Invest is seeking two experienced finance/treasury professionals with expertise in derivatives, debt capital markets, and local currency financing in emerging markets.

In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of local currency and other treasury solutions to IDB Invest’s private sector clients in Latin America and the Caribbean working closely with regional and industry teams, to drive IDB Invest’s expansion of its local currency operations in line with IDB Invest’s growth mandate.

You will be part of the Treasury Division within the Finance and Administration Department and report to the Head of Local Funding Solutions. The Treasury Division is composed of four different units: Funding, Investments, Asset-Liability Management, and Local Funding Solutions units. Local Funding Solutions is responsible for developing and delivering local currency and other treasury solutions to IDB Invest’s private sector clients in the region.

What you’ll do

As Lead Officer or Senior Officer, the following will be your key responsibilities to:

  • Manage local currency operations working directly with delivery units in a structuring, subject matter expertise, and execution role, providing subject matter expertise to project teams in treasury matters and helping project teams to deliver results.
  • Design and develop innovative funding solutions while working closely with Finance, Legal, Risk, and Investment Operations teams..
  • Structure, analyze, price, negotiate, execute and record highly complex debt capital markets, derivatives, and private borrowing/debt transactions for funding DRAs.
  • Monitor regional capital-markets developments; prepare assessments, reports and maintain interest-rate/FX swap toolkits.
  • Evaluate counterparty credit risk and obtain necessary approvals for trading with banks and non-rated entities.
  • Collaborate on the development and deployment of quantitative models and analytical tools for Treasury.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams, banks, counterparties and other external partners.
  • Serve as SME in testing and implementing Treasury systems and process enhancements. Identify technology, infrastructure, and process gaps, as well as continuously recommend actions to minimize operational risks.
  • Contribute to team development, cultivating an inclusive, high‑performance culture that promotes innovation, continuous learning, and shared accountability.

In addition, as Lead Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead new business creation by designing, piloting, and scaling treasury products (e.g. hedging solutions, local-currency bond programs, complex derivatives, and commodities-linked instruments), owning the full lifecycle from market research and business-case development through cross-functional approvals, launch, and post-launch performance, to deliver measurable revenue and development impact.
  • Manage local currency operations working directly with the Regions and Industries in a strategic role and with delivery units in a structuring, subject matter expertise and execution role for most complex and new transactions.
  • Own end-to-end business delivery and risk management, ensuring all outcomes align with the institutional local currency strategy.
  • Act as the technical lead in cross-functional committees and working groups, representing Treasury Local Funding Solutions and shaping strategic discussions on local currency strategy.
  • Drive the continuous evolution of Treasury’s market risk and capital management frameworks to support scaling-up operations and long-term sustainability.
