About this position

The Office of the Special Advisor on Climate Change is responsible for enhancing coordination and fostering synergies within the IDB Group and with external partners on Climate Change in order to achieve greater impact. The Office also advises the President of the Bank on the respective Action Plans, development impact of IDB Group financed activities and related corporate affairs. The selected candidate will support the Special Advisor on Climate Change and its team.

What you’ll do

Executive and Office Support
• Coordinate the day-to-day agenda of the Special Advisor on Climate Change.
• Support in organizing travel logistics and related arrangements for the Special Advisor and the office staff, including managing the Special Advisor's registration and ability to get to several meetings within a day during special events.

•Provide general administrative support to the Special Advisor and Office staff
•Support the Office with miscellaneous client-related activities, including greeting visitors, booking meeting rooms and scheduling office resources.
• Support the monthly reporting and monitoring of the Office Budget.
• Follow and provide information and guidance on the application of IDB administrative policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Provide briefing materials on individuals and institutions ahead of meetings.
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
• Support and manage arrangements relating to the Special Advisor's external advocacy role, including working with the internal Communications team and managing whether external briefings are on or off the record.
• Perform any other activities to support the day-to-day operations of the Office.

Event Coordination and Communications
• Support the coordination of logistical arrangements for meetings and workshops, including agenda preparation, participant lists, technological requirements, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Resource Planning Support
• Support the Resource Planner in tasks related to hiring processes for complementary workforce and consulting firms when needed.
• Support the Resource Planner in all tasks related to the Office miscellaneous expenses, including proper documentation of payments and receipts.

What you'll need

•    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Human Resources, or a related field. 

•    Experience: A Minimum of 2 years of work experience with high-level executives is required. Previous experience at the IDB Group is preferred.  

•    Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

•    Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration

•   International consultant: International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
