What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose of the Position
- Provides on-site support for Geneva-based infrastructure, including physical maintenance, incident resolution, and performance monitoring.
- Acts as focal point for service transition, global technical escalations, and coordination with internal teams and external providers.
- Supports hosted services and ensure secure, reliable operations in line with ITSM processes.
- Contributes to the industrialization of solutions, supporting BUILD to RUN phases with technical expertise.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensures smooth datacenter and infrastructure operations through proactive/reactive maintenance and incident management (SLA/OLA compliance).
- Supports Go-Live phases of new services and participate in change management and continuous improvement processes.
- Applies operational procedures, perform daily checks, updates, and standard hardware maintenance.
- Provides support to ICT delegations and collaborate with T&I units and external service providers.
- Produces and maintains operational documentation, capacity reports, and availability metrics.
- Identifies, anticipates, and documents infrastructure issues, and propose improvements.
- Occasionally works outside business hours or on weekends when required.
Education Required
- VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) certified or equivalent experience is mandatory.
- Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) certified or equivalent experience is mandatory.
- Commvault Command Center/CommCell Console certified or equivalent experience is a strong asset.
- Hitachi HNAS/HCP/OpsCenter certified or equivalent experience is an asset.
- MCSA or equivalent experience is a strong asset.
- ITIL certification.
- Fluency of English is mandatory. Fluency of French is a strong asset.
Experience Required
- 5–10 years’ professional experience, including 5+ years in datacenter hardware management is a strong asset.
- Proven experience in datacenter operations (racking, cabling, power, cooling) is required.
- Good knowledge of scripting/automation, VMware vSphere, SAN, File System/Object/block storage, DRP concepts, enterprise backup is required.
- Experience with VMware vSphere 8.0, Commvault backup, Hitachi HNAS/HCP/OpsCenter is a plus is required.
- Knowledge and strong interest for hyperconverged technologies is an asset.
- Proficiency with service-management tools (e.g. ServiceNow) is an asset.
- General knowledge of Windows and Linux (RedHat a plus) is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of server and computer hardware, and open-source concepts is required.
