The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Research Assistant for our hosted organization, CIFOR-ICRAF in the region.

About CIFOR-ICRAF: More than a research institute—it is a hub of the brightest minds working together to develop nature-based solutions for forested and tree-based landscapes. We collaborate with governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector to address five major global challenges: deforestation and biodiversity loss, the climate crisis, the transformation of unsustainable food systems, unsustainable value and supply chains, and extreme inequality.

About the role: The selected candidate for this position will support the implementation and documentation of field activities under the Agroecology TPP https://www.agroecologytpp.org/, contributing to data collection, systematization, and reporting for the B-REAL and Multifunctional Landscapes projects. The position will assist in coordinating with local partners and contribute to technical inputs that promote the integration of agroecological and tree-based practices into farming systems in Ucayali.

Key responsibilities:

·Contribute to the systematization and characterization of Nature+ initiatives within the project’s scope, ensuring data accuracy and consistency, and participating in the analysis and preparation of technical summaries for identified local initiatives.·Support the development, testing, and refinement of methodologies for farm and community plans (SEAL-CUSAF), including data processing, preparation of technical materials, and feedback to the national technical team.·Facilitate coordination and information exchange with local communities and project partners, ensuring proper documentation of field activities and timely communication with the project’s technical coordination.·Participate in the establishment and monitoring of a network of learning sites on Nature+ practices, contributing to georeferenced registration, preparation of datasheets, and initial analysis of monitoring data.·Collaborate in the organization and facilitation of participatory training sessions and workshops, supporting logistics, registration, and the systematization of participant feedback and lessons learned.·Assist in the preparation of technical reports, progress summaries, and documentation that contribute to CIFOR-ICRAF’s research outputs and institutional learning processes in Ucayali.


Requirements

·Bachelor's degree (with thesis completed) in Forestry, Environmental, or Agronomic engineering with experience in coordinating field projects related to agroforestry, restoration, and agroecology.·A minimum of 3 years of field experience leading activities related to agroforestry, sustainable agriculture, restoration, or natural resource management.·Practical knowledge of agroforestry and sustainable production systems.·Advanced level in computer skills with tools like Word and Excel.·GIS/GPS knowledge being a plus.·Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, and analyze technical and socio-economic information, combined with strong communication and facilitation skills for engaging effectively with local communities and regional stakeholders.·Skills in collecting and organizing technical and social information, as well as communication and engagement skills for interacting with local communities and regional stakeholders·Strong verbal and written communication skills.·Proactivity to anticipate and take on new tasks as necessary, particularly when dealing with virtual work environments
Intermediate level of English writing and verbal communication skills.
