Your Team

The is the judicial body which oversees the implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights in the member states of the Council of Europe. Individuals can bring complaints of human rights violations to the Strasbourg Court once all possibilities of appeal have been exhausted in the member state concerned.

The Public Relations team works to make the Court’s activities more visible and accessible to the public. Its duties include creating content, both written and multimedia, managing the Court’s website, intranet, and social media channels, producing exhibitions, organising certain public events, and coordinating official publications. You will join a team known for its creativity and reliable delivery. As its member, you will help the Court to engage better with the public through a wide range of communication materials, including print publications, exhibition visuals, and digital content for social media. Upon your arrival, you will receive comprehensive training to ensure you are fully integrated into the team.

Your Role

As a Multimedia Graphic Designer and Layout Artist, you will:                                     

  • prepare and produce all types of visual communication media, including print, web and multimedia (brochures, posters, leaflets, publications, folders, covers, displays, promotional items, web design, banners, video integration, social media designs and templates);
  • prepare the layout of publications in different language versions;
  • assist with the production and follow up of publications and exhibitions; ensure follow up and quality control files throughout the graphic chain from creation to printing (layout, proofs, contact with printers, quotes, stock inventory, etc.);
  • take part in the regular organisation of external and internal communication events (hearings, pronouncements of judgements, swearing-in ceremonies, seminars, symposia, official visits, etc.);
  • carry out photo shoots, retouch, edit and create photo galleries;
  • regularly assist the entity in uploading documents/news/visuals/videos to the internet and intranet sites, as well as social media channels;
  • assist in the execution/implementation of any other activities of the entity, if necessary;
  • if possible, assist the team in producing reports and edit videos.
Requirements to apply

You must:

  • have completed formal studies in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field, and hold a university degree or a diploma or certificate from a recognised design school, art institute, or vocational program;
  • have at least three years of relevant professional experience acquired in the field of multimedia graphic design and layout;
  • have a very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Council of Europe (English or French); 
  • have a good knowledge of the other (French or English).

You must also:

  • be a citizen of one of the member states of the Council of Europe and fulfil the conditions for appointment to the civil service of that state;
  • have discharged any obligation concerning national service (military, civil or comparable);
  • not be the parent, child, stepchild or grandchild of a serving staff member of the Council of Europe;
  • be under the age of 65 years.

Portfolio Submission Requirement

Candidates who meet the essential job criteria will be asked to submit a single PDF portfolio containing three examples of past design work in which they were either the sole designer or the lead designer with primary responsibility for the concept, design, execution, and final delivery. The document must clearly specify the software used to produce the design, as well as the candidates' exact roles and responsibilities. 

The portfolios will be evaluated by a panel of design experts. Only the top 10 candidates who receive the highest portfolio evaluations will be invited to sit an eliminatory technical test.
