The Legal Department’s Treasury Legal Unit is looking for a (Senior) Legal Counsel on a two-year fixed-term contract.  

Key responsibilities:  

  • Draft, negotiate, and review treasury transaction documentation, including bond transactions, derivatives contract and confirmations as well as funding program updates 

  • Support and develop automated post-trade documentation processes, legal templates and standard clauses

  • Lead and participate in projects to digitalize, automate and streamline working processes

  • Provide legal advice on treasury law matters

  • Handle other legal and administrative tasks as required  

The ideal candidate should: 

  • Have a Master of Laws degree

  • Have minimum 2-4 years (Legal Counsel) or minimum 10 years (Senior Legal Counsel) of relevant work experience in finance and capital markets law gained at a law firm, in the banking sector, at a financial institution, or as in-house counsel

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ISDA framework, including the Master Agreement and standardized derivatives documentation (considered a strong asset)

  • Have knowledge of financial markets regulation relevant for NIB

  • Have strong IT-skills (e.g. Word, Teams, Copilot, SharePoint), be a quick learner of new digital tools, and have a keen interest in digitizing and automating tasks

  • Be fluent in spoken and written English with the ability to draft and negotiate legal documents in English; knowledge of a Scandinavian language and/or Finnish is desirable

  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Have ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure

  • Have attention to detail, be solution-oriented and diligent
