About the Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory
Asia faces urgent climate risks — with potential economic losses of USD 57 billion and up to 200 million more people pushed into poverty by 2040. Yet only 2% of global philanthropic funding goes to climate, and just 12% of that reaches Asia.
The Asia Climate Philanthropy Advisory (ACPA) is the first initiative of its kind in the region in bringing together Asia’s leading philanthropists to drive greater climate giving and advocacy.
Backed by visionary donors and climate foundations, ACPA helps philanthropists turn intent into impact — through expert guidance, curated giving opportunities, and a vibrant community of climate actors across Asia.
With a strategic market focus on high-potential regional hubs such as Hong Kong and Singapore— characterised by a critical base of ecosystem intermediaries, robust financial infrastructures, and a high density of ultra-high-net-worth-individuals, ACPA delivers:
- Bespoke advisory - one-to-one and group support for climate giving strategies
- High-integrity knowledge – tailored insights on climate and intersectional issues
- Curated opportunities – vetted portfolios aligned with donor priorities
- Connected community – peer learning and collaboration across the climate ecosystem.
The ACPA is initially hosted by Tara Climate Foundation, serving as its incubating partner in Asia and together are building a new generation of Asian philanthropists leading the charge on climate action.
About the Role
The Fundraising Research Officer plays a key role in supporting ACPA’s mission to grow climate philanthropy across Asia. The Fundraising Research Officer initiates and responds to research requests in a timely manner, analysing and synthesising information, and generating profiles, memos and reports. The Fundraising Research Officer qualifies, screens, and rates potential donors, and proactively identifies new prospective major and principal gift donors.
The ideal candidate combines analytical rigour with cultural sensitivity and curiosity about Asia’s diverse philanthropic landscape.
Key responsibilities
Donor Intelligence & Profiling
Develop clear and concise profiles on prospective donors using regional and global data sources, including public records, databases, media, and relationship networks. Tailor insights to reflect the nuances of Asian giving—such as family business dynamics, intergenerational wealth, and cultural motivations for philanthropy. Conduct light financial analysis to estimate giving capacity and assess wealth and influence in context, considering factors beyond net worth.
Intelligence, Knowledge & Systems Management
Monitor philanthropic, corporate, and policy developments across Asia to identify emerging trends and opportunities. Maintain and update ACPA’s CRM/donor database with new insights, ensuring adherence to data privacy and ethical research standards. Stay informed of best practices in prospect research and wealth screening while tracking key performance indicators for fundraising-related research activities.
Strategic Analysis
Map geographic and sectoral landscapes to evaluate fundraising and partnership potential across key Asian markets. Produce donor segmentation analyses and trend reports that support engagement strategies and guide leadership decision-making.
Additional Duties
Contribute to team projects and cross-functional initiatives, particularly those related to donor engagement and partnership development, providing research support and strategic insights as needed.
Person Specification
Excited by the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and fast-growing international organisation advancing climate philanthropy in Asia, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of professional experience in a non-profit organisation, including one or more years of experience working with a relational database management system.
Key skills and experience
- Proven ability to use or quickly learn relevant technology and tools, including ACPA’s donor database and the Microsoft Office suite.

- Skilled in conducting research using a variety of online databases and other resources.
- Exceptional attention to detail, follow-through, and organisational ability, with a proven capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

- Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information with tact.
- Resourceful and adaptable, with a positive, “can-do” attitude toward challenges and change.
- Alignment with ACPA’s mission and values and a commitment to contributing to its goals.
