What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

In collaboration with, and under the direct supervision of the Hospital Project Manager and technical supervision of the MHPSS Programme Manager, the Psychologist contributes technically to the implementation of MHPSS activities in line with the ICRC MHPSS framework. S/he is responsible for supporting with the continued development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the mental health and psychosocial support activities for all programmes, alongside the Hospital Project Manager and MHPSS Program Manager. S/he guarantees technical quality, alignment with the Delegation and Tyre Subdelegations priorities and strategy, as well as integrating ethical and do no harm considerations throughout the delivery of activities in Lebanon.

Certifications / Education required

  • Master's degree in clinical psychology 
  • Valid License to practice in Lebanon.

 

Accountabilities & functional responsibilities

  • Applies psychometric screening and monitoring tools in accordance with ICRC standards, ensuring data entering in the established platforms (PEARL/ MAD).
  • Contributes to recommendations and proposals to enhance the Help the Helpers activities to the MHPSS Program Manager.
  • Liaises with relevant Hospital Management staff to ensure support, continuity and therapeutic interventions are provided ethically and in timely manner.
  • When relevant, trains hospital or MoPH/ PHEOC/ NMHP staff in Training of Trainers for Help the Helpers and conducts supervisions and for People Affected by Violence - Health and conducts supervision.
  • Identifies gaps in hospital staff competencies related to basic MHPSS knowledge and skills in identification, handling and referral of patients with a focus, but not exclusive to, MHPSS needs.
  • Develops, facilitates, and implements information, sensitization and capacity building sessions on MHPSS for hospital teams as required. 
  • Ensures evaluations, monitoring, data entry, regular follow-up, and support is provided for all capacity building activities.
  • Provides weekly support to MHPSS activities pertaining to Tyre SD in coordination with the Tyre MHPSS psychologist and SD management in line with the delegation’s MHPSS objectives.
  • Provides technical support to MHPSS peers based on needs in all areas.
  • Manages the MHPSS database and contributes to timely reporting as required, including minutes of meetings, field trip reports, quarterly technical reports.
  • Reports events and changes within the region.

Professional experience required

  • 3 years of professional experience in a hospital setting. with minimum 2 years of experience in MHPSS program.

Additional Requirement

What we offer

  • Salary Package: 2’041 – 2’981 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
  • 13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
  • Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.
  • International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
  • Other benefits subject to internal rules and regulations: High Cost of Living Allowance (HCLA), Schooling allowance, eyeglasses, designated personal training budget for learning opportunities.

  • Location: South Hospitals (Tebnine and Marjayoun Governmental Hospitals)
  • Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm. 
  • Type of contract: Fixed Term, 1year (Renewable based on performance and need for position).
  • Activity rate: 100%
