The Scope
Join FSC, the global leader in responsible forest management, and help shape the future of ecosystem services finance. Through our Verified Impact framework, we highlight positive forest outcomes such as carbon storage, biodiversity, watershed protection, and cultural values. We are now expanding our global market presence and seeking a Senior Advisor to drive strategy, funding, and partnerships across ecosystem services markets.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
1. Resource Mobilization & Strategic Partnerships
· Develop and implement FSC’s Ecosystem Services (Verified Impact) financing strategy. · Secure funding from multilateral/bilateral donors, foundations, governments, corporates, and other innovative finance mechanisms (green bonds, blended finance, impact investors).
· Prepare high-quality proposals and partnership concepts.
· Build strong relationships with donors, investors, corporates and financial institutions.
2. Market & Business Development
· Identify and develop opportunities for PES and other natural capital market instruments.
· Support business cases and pricing models for FSC-verified ecosystem services. · Co-design investment-ready projects with private-sector actors.
· Contribute to scalable financial mechanisms linking verified forest impacts with climate & biodiversity finance.
3. Internal Coordination
· Collaborate with Regional Leads, Network Partners, Investment & Partnerships, and Marketing to ensure aligned global action.
· Provide technical support to regional and national offices on fundraising and partnerships.
· Share market insights and coordinate cross-regional learning. 4. Knowledge & Capacity Building
· Monitor global trends in ecosystem services markets
· Create tools, guidance, and training for the FSC network.
· Document and discriminate success stories and lessons from pilots and partnerships.
· Support communication efforts to highlight FSC’s impact and market relevance.

Your profile
You are a global minded, technically strong ecosystem-finance strategist with deep knowledge of climate and biodiversity markets, who can independently design funding strategies, influence partners, build global relationships, and represent FSC externally - while also empowering our global network. Self-driven, collaborative, articulate, and passionate about planetary impact.
Education
· Master’s degree or higher in Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Business, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or related fields.
Experience (10+ years)
· Proven resource mobilization, fundraising, or partnership experience in international NGOs, development agencies, or sustainability organizations.
· Expertise in sustainable finance, natural capital markets, biodiversity/climate investment.
· Experience with ecosystem services markets, PES, or conservation finance.
· Strong track record building partnerships with corporates and financial institutions.
· Successful history securing multi-year funding.
· Experience working with multi-stakeholder and cross-regional teams.
· Familiarity with FSC or similar certification systems is a plus.
Skills
· Strategic, analytical, and business development mindset.
· Exceptional communication, proposal writing, and negotiation abilities.
· Leadership in partnership building and cross-team coordination.
· Fluency in English (Spanish or French is an asset).
· Ability to work effectively in a global, multicultural environment.

The Fine Print
- Location: Remote
- Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week.
- Duration of Employment: Temporary contract - 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
- Starting Date: As soon as possible.
- Travel: 40-50% travel may be required.
