Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.
DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

About the job
Overall purpose of the role is to support and carry out passenger transportation within Ukraine, planning and management of transport and logistics activities in support of humanitarian assistance operations in Kharkiv, with business trips around Ukraine. The driver is responsible for drive, manage and administering the vehicle to provide safe and efficient transport for operations teams and field offices.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Carry out the Daily vehicle driving duty and inspection of vehicle in accordance with the SOP Fleet Management.
- Ensure that each vehicle is carrying a Vehicle Logbook, First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguisher.
- Ensure that the vehicles are cleaned both inside and out whenever needed.
- Report any accident or damage or defects to the vehicle to the Fleet Team Leader and Safety Officer; appropriately complete Accident Report, and pass it to the Fleet Team Leader for action.
- Check and ensure Vehicle Logbooks are correctly completed.
- Make sure that all vehicles are parked correctly during the day and at night at the office parking.
- Understand and obey all traffic laws and regulations of Ukraine and DRC in country.
- Advise the SC Officer of needed service and maintenance of the assigned vehicle minimum 3 days in advance.
- Maintain communication with Fleet Team Leader and Safety Manager.
- Monitor fuel states and organize refuelling.
- Send the completed Logbook to the Fleet Team Leader at the end of each day.
- Drivers are required to work in accordance with the operational needs of the operation.
About you:
To be successful in this role we expect you to have a valid driver’s license in categories B. You should also confirm at least three years of accident-free driving experience. Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required:
- Experience with manual transmission.
- Fluency in the Ukrainian language.
- Understanding the basics of vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to prepare road documentation, keep fuel records and report on the technical condition of vehicles.
- Knowledge of Ukrainian traffic regulations and adherence to a safe and responsible driving style.
- Basic skills in using a PC and office software.
- High level of responsibility and punctuality.
- Politeness, professionalism and respectful communication with passengers and colleagues; ability to work effectively in a team and willingness to perform special and non-standard tasks as necessary.
- Willingness to undergo medical examinations, safety training, first aid training, etc.
Desirable:
- Possession of a category C, D, or E driving licence would be an advantage.
- Complete secondary education. Higher or vocational education in a field related to motor transport would be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of English (minimum level A1), sufficient for oral communication, orientation and understanding of instructions, would be an advantage.
- Previous professional experience as a driver in international organisations, diplomatic missions, humanitarian agencies or commercial companies would be an advantage.
- Experience of driving passenger cars (including armoured vehicles) and trucks, particularly in difficult road and weather conditions, would be an advantage.
- Experience of work with electric winch and loader crane in loading and unloading operations would be an advantage.
- Basic skills in using GPS and navigation devices an advantage.

Contract length: After successfully completing a 3-month probationary period extension is possible depending on performance and funding.
