Background

The Admin Unit, as part of the Operations, contributes to achieving UNDP mission and goals through operational support provided to programme and projects in transport and travel services, logistics, event management, Supplier Management function, management of common premises and services, asset management and protocol.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Head of Admin Unit, Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by:

  • Driving office vehicle for transport of authorized personnel; delivery and collection of mail, documents and other item;
  • Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, visa and customs formalities arrangement when required.
  • Ensures support in office related transportation (equipment, furniture, relocation of equipment and office relocation, etc);
  • Responsibility for management and maintenance of office vehicle, perform minor repairs and arranges for other repairs; ensures that vehicle is kept clean, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc;
  • Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes greasing etc;
  • Ensure that steps required by the national laws and regulations as well as UNDP are taken in case of involvement in accident;
  • Responsible for maintenance of inventory of vehicle equipment;
  • Responsible for maintenance of inventory of security/communication equipment (VHF radios);
  • Follow up and to ensure full implementation of all security rules and regulations;
  • Ensure timely advance notification of scheduled trips in order to obtain the required security clearances;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Driver will work under overall supervision of Head of Admin Unit.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Secondary Education;
  • Valid Driver’s license;

Minimum years of relevant work experience:

  • 2 years' work experience as a professional driver;
  • Safe driving record.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair;
  • Experience in reliable and secure driving services;
  • Previous working experience in UN, International Organization or Embassy is desirable.

Required Language(s):

  • Fluency in any of local languages (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian), basic knowledge of English language.
