Duties and Responsibilities
The purpose of this internship is to support and contribute to the design and development of advanced data analytics and visualization solutions, that will contribute to the delivery of the JIU mandate through the continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of JIU processes. Work will be carried out under the supervision of the JIU Executive Secretary or of delegated Evaluation and Inspection Officers. The internship provides an opportunity for the intern to familiarize themselves with the mandate and processes of a large number of UN entities, a wide range of processes across those entities and to gain exposure to the professional field of oversight.
Qualifications/special skills
The minimum educational qualification required is a High School Diploma. The applicant must also: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree or equivalent, or higher ; 1. Ability to deliver information technology-driven solutions or services, with proven experience with data dashboards or other visualization tools, such as Microsoft Power BI; business communication platforms, such as Microsoft Teams; and content management system software, such as Microsoft SharePoint. 2. Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; 3. Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.
