We are now seeking an experienced Senior Banker to join our Financial Institutions team. This role drives origination, manages strategic customer relationships, and advances NIB’s mission through high-quality, purpose-driven financing.
Your Role and Key Responsibilities
Origination & Business Development
- Identify and originate long-term lending and risk-sharing opportunities with financial institutions across the Nordic–Baltic region.
- Build strong, long-term client relationships with financial institutions.
- Represent NIB in market-facing activities to strengthen awareness of our mission, financing tools, and sustainability mandate.
Transaction Leadership
- Lead transaction teams across the full deal lifecycle: pre-screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, internal approvals, documentation, disbursement, and monitoring.
- Assess credit risks, develop risk mitigants, and ensure alignment with NIB’s internal policies and frameworks.
- Drive execution of complex lending operations, including intermediated loans, labelled products, capital-relief structures, and other long-term purpose-driven financing.
Portfolio Management
- Oversee a portfolio of financial institution clients, ensuring strong asset quality.
- Monitor performance, manage amendments/waivers, and identify early warning signals proactively.
- Ensure consistent reporting, ex-post assessments, and adherence to NIB’s compliance and sustainability standards.
Sector Knowledge & Internal Contribution
- Build deep expertise in the FI sector, market developments, regulatory changes, ESG integration, and sustainable finance.
- Contribute to product development, process improvement, and system enhancements.
- Share knowledge and mentor colleagues across the Bank.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or related field.
- At least 5–7 years of relevant experience in banking, structured finance, capital markets, or consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and execute lending operations, including risk assessment, structuring, pricing, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of FI sector dynamics, regulatory environment, and sustainability trends.
- Fluent in English; working proficiency in a Nordic or Baltic language is an advantage.
- Ability to represent NIB credibly at a senior level with clients, regulators, and public stakeholders.
