About the Country/Multi-Country Office
UNOPS Development and Special Initiatives team works with UN partners and Member States. This portfolio offers support for various initiatives and priorities of the UN Secretary-General in pursuit of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, it helps the UN Secretariat in implementing global programs in areas such as political affairs, climate, counterterrorism and peacebuilding, among others.
About the Group
UNOPS has entered into an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme UNDP to support the implementation of project activities under the Global Programme on Nature for Development.
UNDP’s Global Programme on Nature for Development brings together the Equator Initiative, the National Biodiversity Initiative, and the Global Forest Initiative under a single programme framework. The programme aims to identify, support, and scale nature based solutions that contribute to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at local, national, and international levels.
The Global Programme on Nature for Development contributes to UNDP’s Strategic Plan by supporting sustainable development pathways through the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems, while promoting inclusive and effective democratic governance in the area of natural resources.
Job Specific Context
UNOPS supports UNDP in implementing the Global Programme on Nature for Development, which advances nature-based solutions to achieve the 2030 Agenda through biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and inclusive natural resource governance. Within this framework, the ICT Associate – Systems Support plays a key operational role by ensuring the effective functioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ICT systems, web-based applications, and digital platforms that support programme delivery and internal operations. Working under the supervision of the ICT Specialist in a service-oriented, multi-stakeholder environment, the role provides user support, troubleshooting, and systems coordination, ensuring that digital solutions are reliable, secure, and aligned with operational and business needs.
Role Purpose
The ICT Associate – Systems Support provides technical and operational support to ensure the effective functioning, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ICT systems, applications, and digital tools used by UNOPS programmes and operations. The role supports system users, assists with system updates and testing, contributes to data and information management, and ensures that ICT solutions are reliable, user friendly, and aligned with operational requirements.
Functions / Key Results Expected
- Provide day to day technical support for internal web-based tools and digital platforms
- Assist in maintaining and updating websites and internal portals using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress
- Support users with troubleshooting basic system, application, and access issues
- Assist in testing, documenting, and improving ICT workflows and tools
- Assist the ICT specialist in development and maintenance of web interfaces and dashboards
- Assist the ICT specialist in updating digital content and ensure functionality, usability, and consistency
- Assist in integrating data outputs into web platforms
- Support the ICT specialist in data cleaning, validation, and basic analysis using Python and SQL
- Assist in maintaining structured databases and ensuring data accuracy
- Support preparation of data driven reports and visual outputs
- Assist the ICT specialist in basic technical documentation, user guides, and system notes
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather ICT requirements
- Support continuous improvement of ICT tools and processes

Secondary school (or equivalent) with 6 years of relevant experience OR
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 2 years of relevant experience is required.

- For retainer contracts, you must complete a few mandatory courses (they take around 4 hours to complete) in your own time, before providing services to UNOPS.
