Responsibilities
Under the general administrative supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), the overall guidance of the Head of Human Resources and the direct supervision of the Senior HR Associate in Germany, the intern will support the operational activities of the HR Team.
Administrative Support Across the Employee Lifecycle
Preparation of employee certificates
Drafting of reference letters
Maintenance and compliance of personnel files
Archiving HR documentation
Time and Attendance Administration
Daily absence registration and tracking
Preparation and administration of extended leaves (e.g. parental leave, special leave)
Recruitment Administration
Support in vacancy advertisements and pre-screening of applications
Assistance with compliance and background checks
Scheduling of interviews and assessments
The intern will also perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or the Chief of Mission.
Qualifications
Student or graduate, preferably in Human Resources, Psychology, Social and/or Political Sciences, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Fluency in English and German (written and spoken) is required
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
Prior experience in Human Resources or a related administrative field is an asset
An interest in the work of international organizations and issues related to migration
Very good knowledge of spoken and written German; fluency in English. Knowledge of another official IOM language (French, Spanish) is an advantage

- Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
