Job Description
Under the supervision of the National HR Officer – MHRO-GSSC, the Senior Human Resources Associate (Insurances) provides both technical and administrative support for managing eligibility criteria related to IOM’s medical plans and associated insurance processes. This role is responsible for accurately enrolling staff members and their dependents, maintaining After- Service Health Insurance (ASHI) records, and preparing as well as monitoring premium invoicing and payments.
The successful candidate will also support the administration and timely admission of eligible staff and dependents into the medical insurance scheme globally.
Responsibilities
- Administer medical insurance enrollment for staff members and eligible dependents, and other insurance related coverage such as Unlimited and Limited After Service, Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP), Assignment from SLWOP (AFS), and Coverage After Cessation of Participation (CACP), with accurate calculations, invoice preparation, and proper recording in the invoicing system.
- Review eligibility requirements and supporting documentation for admission, continuation, or cancellation of insurance coverage in compliance with relevant policies and internal guidelines.
- Maintain accurate insurance records in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Review Separation Clearance Statements (SCSs) and validate insurance premium calculations.
- Liaise with Finance, HR units, and staff across different levels, including providing technical advice to senior staff, to verify eligibility, support billing accuracy, timely facilitation of payments and reconciliations, and coordinate sanctioned claims and payments through IOM.
- Provide technical support to HRAU and field offices on ERP issues and insurance administrative procedures.
- Respond to insurance-related queries from staff at all levels, including providing advice to senior staff. Prepare and validate insurance certificates and attestations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare periodic reports and generate ad hoc insurance-related reports as required.
- Independently analyse and resolve complex and sensitive cases within established policies and procedures, and escalate cases exceeding delegated authority to the supervisor with recommendations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- University degree in Business Administration or Health sciences from an accredited
academic institution with four years of relevant experience; or; - Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with six years
of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience working for an international organization is an advantage.
- Previous working experience in the medical insurance.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion in appropriate areas of work.
SKILLS
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
