Private Sector Partnerships Unit
The objective of the Private Sector Partnerships Unit is to provide the Headquarters, Regional and Country Offices with assistance and expertise relating to initiating, establishing and maintaining partnerships with the private sector for income, innovation and impact. The Private Sector Partnerships Unit is responsible for the development and implementation of IOM’s Private Sector Strategy, which seeks to enhance how IOM works with the private sector to support safe, orderly and regular migration. The Private Sector Partnerships Unit raises funds, establishes and coordinates IOM’s due diligence process, builds staff capacity in private sector partnership-building and oversees the Goodwill Ambassador programme.
Under the direct supervision of the National Partnership Engagement Officer in close coordination with the Private Sector Partnerships Unit, the National Private Sector Partnership Officer will support the implementation of private sector partnership activities in the Republic of Korea, ensuring timely delivery of agreed actions, coordination, and reporting in line with priorities. The position will contribute to innovative technical partnerships that capitalize upon business expertise and capabilities, and support the mobilization of flexible funding that contributes to programme implementation and advances the objectives of the Global Compact for Migration.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the National Partnership Engagement Officer and in close coordination with the Private Sector Partnerships Unit (PSP) at Headquarters, the National Private Sector Partnership Officer will be responsible for the following:
Partnership development
- Support mapping and identification of private sector partners whose technologies, goods, or services contribute added values to IOM’s projects.
- Support due diligence assessments of potential partners.
- Support the development of a menu of options for private sector collaboration to effectively engage potential partners.
- Support outreach efforts to prominent private sector partners in the ROK with tailored approaches.
- Collaborate with program teams to design suitable partnership schemes, aligning project scopes and partners’ strengths and priorities.
- Support the drafting of partnership frameworks and agreements in collaboration with the legal team in HQ.
- Support the stewardship of relevant partners in the ROK in coordination with PSP and Regional Offices.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Support coordination between relevant private sector partners and IOM’s internal teams, contributing to joint planning, implementation, and reporting to ensure transparency, strategic alignment, and impactful partnerships.
- Support the promotion and delivery of Migrant and Business Human Rights (MBHR)–related trainings and engagement with private sector partners and stakeholders.
Reporting
- Work in relevant program teams to compile and draft reports to partners
- In coordination with program teams, document and share best practices to further inform impact.
IG (Individual Giving)
- Support the assessment of the feasibility of IG in the ROK, including a review of regulatory, operational and technological requirements, and contribute to the identification and development of appropriate infrastructure.
- Provide delivery and operational support to IG initiatives in the ROK, where HQ PSP leads pilot tests.
Support the development of compelling content for the crowdfunding platform.
Support for HQ and Regional Office
- Contribute to the implementation of the Private Sector Strategy 2023 - 2027 in the ROK and the Asia-Pacific region, in close coordination with PSP.
Support private sector engagement efforts in the Asia-Pacific region by liaising with private sector focal points in the region.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Business Management, International Relations, Marketing or related degree from an accredited academic institution; or,
University degree in the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Professional experience in private sector partnership development and resource mobilization in the context of international cooperation (e.g., NGOs, international organizations, government agencies), or in CSR/sustainability-related roles in the private sector.
- Excellent understanding of private sector priorities and experience in developing partnerships and fundraising with the private sector.
- Experience in contributing to value proposition development and co-designing solutions in collaboration with private sector partners (companies, foundations, business associations, etc.)
Work experience related to public information and communication is an advantage.
Skills
- An in-depth understanding of private sector partnerships, philanthropy and UN agencies.
- Familiarity with international relations, sustainability, and migration issues, as well as related initiatives led by the private sector and the Government of the ROK.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills and confidence to engage with high-level stakeholders;
- Proven ability to balance organizational priorities with the interests and expectations of external partners.
- Ability to develop Unique Value Proposition for private sector partners in line with the organizational unique selling points.
- Strong inter-personal skills and organizational awareness to work with colleagues and partners effectively.
- Excellent writing and translation skills (English-Korean), with the ability to produce donor correspondence, reports, communication materials, and briefings, and ability to explain complex issues to external partners while effectively representing the Organization and its operations in an appealing and concise manner.
- Excellent organization and analytical skills, attention to detail, adaptability to changing situations and ability to work independently within cross-functional team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Windows, Office, and Outlook, and desktop software applications.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English and Korean is required (oral and written).
