Project Context and Scope
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brazil is implementing various projects addressing the protection, assistance, and integration needs of migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations in Brazil. In the State of Amazonas, IOM is working to prevent violence against Indigenous children, adolescents, and youth, including refugees and migrants. In this context, IOM continue supporting the extremely vulnerable refugees and migrants in Amazonas, especially those in risk of human trafficking, such as children and adolescents, and women and girls victims of violence.
Under the overall supervision of IOM Brazil Chief of Mission, the overall supervision of the Programming Coordinator National Officer of Roraima, the direct and technical supervision of the Protection Senior Associate, the consultant will be responsible for supporting IOM protection activities in MHPSS, through the implementation of the activities below mentioned in the state of Amazonas.

Responsibilities
In close collaboration with the Protection Coordinator, support the implementation of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities in the target areas. Priority will be given to initiatives focused on preventing violence against Indigenous children, adolescents, and youth, including refugees and migrants.
Through a participatory approach with indigenous communities, collaborate in the preparation, collection and analysis of data and in the elaboration of the MHPSS assessment that will contribute to the action plan and deployment on the field.
Provide group counselling sessions tailored to the needs of indigenous children, adolescents and youth, including those migrants and refugees.
Support the identification and referral of people with severe mental disorders in coordination with IOM Protection Coordinator. Individual sessions if required, along with follow up sessions when deemed necessary.
Contribute to the identification of training needs, development of training material and provide training sessions on Psychological First Aid (PFA) and basic aid counselling skills to humanitarian actors, health and social assistance professionals, community focal points and volunteers and other IOM Brazil units and team members.
Support the development of awareness messages/campaigns/materials (such as posters, pocket guides and videos) related to mental health and psychosocial support, especially those which will benefit indigenous children, adolescents and youth., the material will be disseminated to communities.
Through a participatory approach with migrants and refugees, including indigenous migrants, conduct MHPSS needs assessments, surveys and informative sessions to enhance access to psychosocial services and specialized mental health care in the public health system, especially Psychosocial Network.
Collaborate with key partners/ health facilities through the provision of trainings/informative sessions/materials to support the access of the target population while strengthening the referral pathways.
Provide support to regular data collection, analysis and systematization and maintain record of all
documents related to beneficiary and project documents.
Provide support with the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the MHPSS programme activities according to project objectives, quality standards and needs.
Provide functional and administrative support when needed.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Academic BA in psychology.
Experience
- Previous experience working with indigenous communities.
Fluency in Portuguese and Spanish.
