Childhood lead poisoning affects more than 1 million children in the Philippines each year, causing significant health and economic harm. Unsafe battery recycling is a major cause of lead poisoning. We work with government and industry to support low-cost, internationally-proven policies that can prevent unsafe battery recycling.

LABRI is looking for a Policy Officer to spearhead our engagement efforts in the Philippines. This role will combine policy strategy, stakeholder engagement and applied research. We think this is an excellent opportunity for an early- / mid-career professional looking to benefit the health of Filipinos and grow their expertise in public policy..

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills.

  • Able to think critically about organisational strategy and provide suggestions to improve and progress our overall mission.

  • Right to work in the Philippines.

  • Willingness to travel in and around Metro Manila for around 10% of the time.

  • Fluency in English and Tagalog.

  • Contract Duration: 6 months, with possibility of extension

  • Job type: Full-time

  • Compensation: 900-1,100 USD per month
