Job Description

Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation, and follow-up of activities related to temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities to support the effective implementation of the Organization’s projects.
- Provide support in monitoring projects and activities at national and local levels related to preparedness and response, in close collaboration with sub-offices and other thematic Units/Divisions of IOM Ecuador.
- Draft weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or semi-annual progress reports as required by the Division, and assist in monitoring and reporting on the implementation of different programme components (response strategies, needs assessments, methodologies, guidelines, tools, surveys, procedures, processes, good practices, etc.).
- Assist in the monitoring of implementing partners carrying out actions at national and local levels and serve as a contact point with key counterparts/partners for the delivery of assistance related to temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities.
- Support the implementation of emergency response plans, in coordination with IOM focal points in sub-offices, to contribute to the effective execution of programme activities in temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities.
- Assist to identify needs of populations on the move and provide direct assistance, when required by the Mission, in the sectors of temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities.
- Assist in organizing working groups or coordination spaces on humanitarian preparedness and response involving temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities.
- Report in a timely manner to IOM, through the Division Officer, on all project-related events and carry out other associated tasks relevant to the proper implementation of activities as assigned.
- Provide general support with administrative tasks related to project implementation, in coordination with relevant support units.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma with 4 years of work experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Psychology, Migration Studies, Law, or related fields with two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- At least two years of relevant professional experience in the implementation and monitoring of social and community projects with vulnerable populations.
- Previous experience with preparedness, humanitarian assistance, and/or emergency response programmes is an advantage.
- Previous work experience with UN agencies is an advantage.
- Experience in monitoring plans, programmes, and projects implemented at both national and local levels
- Experience providing direct assistance to vulnerable populations will be valued.
- Minimum of one year of experience providing technical and administrative support in areas such as temporary shelter, humanitarian transport, food and non-food items, housing, water and sanitation, connectivity, infrastructure improvement, and other humanitarian activities.
Skills
- Good command of IT tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and consolidate project information.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, institutional counterparts, and implementing partners.
- Practical knowledge of administrative, financial, and logistical procedures related to project and activity management at the office level.
- Experience in collecting, systematizing, and conducting basic analysis of programme information, ensuring quality, order, and reliability of data.
- General understanding of IOM’s mandate in humanitarian preparedness and response, recovery, and migration, as well as UN system standards for project management.
Languages
- For this position, fluency in Spanish is required (oral and written)
- Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
- Oral and written fluency of beneficiary’s languages (English) is an advantage.
