Job Description

Context

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programme (HoP) in Lebanon and direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for coordinating, implementing and monitoring activities within the frame of the Public Health Unit. 

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities in the South and BML regions. 
  2. Support the work of IOM public health outreach activities and assist in monitoring the community health workers with the area of responsibility to ensure that all assigned tasks are completed and reported promptly. Report any incomplete tasks and wrongdoings to the direct supervisor. 
  3. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
  4. Assist in strengthening health surveillance and increase the identification of TB and HIV and link identified patients to diagnosis and treatment.
  5. Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  6. Ensure regular and structured visits to IOM-supported health facilities and institutions and draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
  7. Participate in the data collection for assessments and surveys designed to understand the health needs, barriers to access to healthcare and health-seeking behaviours and decisions of the target population.
  8. In coordination with the direct supervisor, support in the organization of meetings, workshops and training sessions.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in health field (preferably nursing) or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
 
Experience
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
  • Demonstrated experience working in the South of Lebanon and other field locations, including monitoring health interventions, liaising with local stakeholders, and supporting health-related activities.
  • Good knowledge of the geographic, socio-economic, and health system context of the South of Lebanon.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. 
Skills
  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
  • Knowledge of the public health sector in Lebanon
  • Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming
Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 

  • For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).

Working Knowledge of French is an advantage.
