The Position:
The Programme Analyst Youth assists in the analysis and assessment of relevant political, social and economic trends, guiding and facilitating the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes and will report to the UNFPA Deputy Representative.

Job Purpose:
Working within the Country Office environment, you will ensure the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of youth.
Employing your programme management experience, you will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, and civil society to address youth emerging issues, and with support of the programme coordinator effectively influence diverse stakeholders to contribute to achieving UNFPA’s mandate.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Participating in the formulation of the country programme and component projects, by compiling and analysing information relevant to the UNFPA’s role in the country, drafting project documents and work plans; and preparing tables and statistical data.
- Setting up a collaboration with Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners, provide programmatic input to develop UNFPA -supported Youth interventions and strategies that effectively contribute to national youth efforts.
- Support the Programme Coordinator in providing technical support to national partners in the design and implementation of Youth programmes.
- Evaluating project and programme activities, establishing ways to systematically assess achievement and recommending corrective action as required; conducting field visits; participating in review meetings and evaluation missions and preparing regular inputs to status and progress reports.
- Monitor the implementation of the youth interventions including in the humanitarian settings according to the UNFPA Work Plans,
- Analysing and interpreting the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA activities, and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
- Assist the Programme Coordinator to ensure the linkages between UNFPA youth supported interventions with office efforts to promote youth empowerment and gender equality, and sexual reproductive health and rights
- Analysing policy papers, strategy documents and national development plans; preparing briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks.
- Support senior officers in the establishment and maintenance of partnerships with implementing partners, government counterparts and other UN agencies to facilitate timely and efficient delivery of UNFPA activities including in the humanitarian settings.
- Assist the Programme Coordinators to ensure the linkages between UNFPA youth supported interventions with office efforts to promote youth empowerment and gender equality, and sexual reproductive health and rights.
- Assist the Programme Coordinators to analyze the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA programme activities, and pursuing opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
- Provide required information to the Programme Specialists to analyze the implications of new policy developments and strategies on programme execution related to youth and ensuring their integration.
- Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to capture lessons learned and best practices for future planning
- Provide data, information and evidence to the Programme Coordinator to support the Country Representative in advocacy and resource mobilization,
- Participate in the UN Youth interagency team discussions and represent UNFPA in the youth taskforce.
- Undertake any other duties requested by the supervisor or the Representative.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Advanced degree in health, population, demography and/or other related social science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Previous relevant experience in Youth area
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Experience in working with young people in humanitarian settings
Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Arabic
