Job Description

Responsibilities
- Experience in coordination with local governmental authorities (municipal, cantonal, or parish), national institutions, and non-governmental organizations in the field of community infrastructure or social projects;
- Experience working with vulnerable communities, including migrant, refugee, and internally displaced populations, women, youth, or other groups in vulnerable situations;
- Experience in participatory design or application of community methodologies (CBP, Localise, CPTED, or similar) is desirable;
- Prior experience in social infrastructure projects, community facilities, or inclusive public spaces is mandatory;
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma with six years of relevant experience on architecture and/or civil engineering; or,
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience

Skills
- Knowledge of architectural design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) and BIM (Building Information Modelling) tools;
- Solid knowledge of the Ecuadorian Construction Standards (NEC - Norma Ecuatoriana de la Construcción) and current municipal building regulations;
- Knowledge of universal accessibility regulations, inclusive design principles, and disability inclusion standards (NTE INEN);
- Familiarity with climate-resilient architecture and seismic risk-informed design for the Ecuadorian context;
- Knowledge of protection standards and environmental safeguards in community infrastructure
- Ability to incorporate gender-sensitive design principles in architectural projects;
- Ability to apply participatory methodologies and inclusive community design;
- Analytical capacity to interpret community needs and translate them into architectural solutions
Languages
- For this position, fluency in Spanish is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
