This role is being established to increase the capacity of the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit, specifically to enable the team to conduct more effective quantitative research. UNICEF is increasingly leveraging self-serve quantitative survey scripting platforms as in-house scripting and data collection tool for quantitative research. To support the growing number of global and local research initiatives, AMI seeks a Scripting and Data Processing Consultant to script surveys, coordinate translations and link checks, liaise with panel vendors for survey fielding, conduct data quality control, and perform basic data processing including weighting and tabulations. The consultant will: 1. Serve as a technical lead for scripting and managing quantitative surveys in the self-serve quantitative survey scripting platform tools UNICEF has access. 2. Ensure high-quality, error-free survey links and seamless survey deployment. 3. Coordinate effectively with markets, agencies, and panel vendors to ensure timely fieldwork and data delivery. 4. Conduct quality checks on incoming data and perform data processing and tabulation. 5. Support UNICEF’s flagship and ad hoc research projects to enable evidence-based strategic decision-making.

PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:

How can you make a difference? 

SCOPE OF WORK:

Under the supervision of the High-Value Insights Manager, the Consultant will be responsible for:

1. Program and script surveys in the self-serve quantitative survey scripting platform tools UNICEF has access to.

2. Liaise with local markets or agencies to coordinate the translation of questionnaires and ensure translations are accurately implemented in the tool.

3. Conduct thorough link checks to ensure functionality, routing, translations, and survey logic are correct prior to launch.

4. Coordinate with panel vendors to manage fieldwork, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery.

5. Conduct rigorous data quality checks (e.g., identifying and flagging straight-liners, speeders, AI-generated responses, and other poor-quality data).

6. Run data processing, including weighting, creation of nets, and preparation of summary tables in Excel or other tools.

7. Maintain accurate documentation of technical setup, survey versions, and data cleaning decisions.

WORK ASSIGNMENTS OVERVIEW:

  • Programming and field management of UNICEF’s Global Brand Barometer.
  • Programming and field management of the High-Value Audience Brand Tracker.
  • Partnership/ Prospect Surveys.
  • Seven ad hoc quantitative surveys.

DELIVERABLES:

The consultant will submit monthly deliverables throughout the contract period and payments will be processed at the end of each month, upon acceptance of deliverables by the supervisor.

Deliverable 1: Ongoing from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026

Scripting the Global Brand Barometer survey in Qualtrics, coordinating translations, link checking, managing fieldwork with panel vendors, conducting data quality checks, and processing final data outputs.

KPIs:

  • Operational Efficiency: Brand Barometer set up and ready for deployment within agreed timelines.
  • Data Delivery: 100% of projects delivered with clean, weighted (when relevant) datasets and summary tables ready for analysis.
  • Strategic Data Processing: Tabulation structures aligned with the research objectives of the project and insight frameworks.

Deliverable 2: Ongoing from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026

Scripting the High-Value Audience Brand Tracker in Qualtrics, ensuring seamless translation and launch processes, vendor coordination, quality checks, and data tabulation.

KPIs:

  • Operational Efficiency: High-Value Audience Brand Tracker set up and ready for deployment within agreed timelines.
  • Data Delivery: 100% of projects delivered with clean, weighted (when relevant) datasets and summary tables ready for analysis.
  • Strategic Data Processing: Tabulation structures aligned with the research objectives of the project and insight frameworks.

Deliverable 3: Ongoing from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026

Set up and maintain 3 to 5 surveys that will be used to gather audience insights from existing partners or prospective audiences. This includes scripting, link checks, ensuring operational readiness for recurring deployments, and data management.

KPIs:

  • Set up and maintain 3 to 5 surveys used to gather audience insights from existing partners or prospective audiences.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: At least 85% positive feedback from internal stakeholders on survey usability and reliability.
  • Strategic Data Processing: Tabulation structures aligned with the research objectives of the project and insight frame.

Deliverable 4: Ongoing from 1 December 2025 to 30 November 2026

Provide end-to-end technical support for ad hoc quantitative research projects — scripting, translation management, link checks, vendor liaison, quality control, and data processing.

KPIs:

  • Supporting 4 to 7 ad hoc quantitative surveys.
  • Operational Efficiency: All surveys set up and ready for deployment within agreed timelines.
  • Data Delivery: 100% of projects delivered with clean, weighted (when relevant) datasets and summary tables ready for analysis.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in cultural studies, communications, psychology, marketing, political studies, development studies, statistics, data science, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years of hands-on experience in survey programming and technical research support.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in scripting complex surveys, routing logic, and multilingual survey deployment.
  • Experience liaising with fieldwork vendors and managing translations.
  • Strong skills in data quality control and processing (e.g., weighting, nets, tabulations.
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with data cleaning workflows.
  • Experience with advanced statistical analytics and data science is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills in English is required.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
