The Position:
The Programme Analyst, SRHR is located in Myitkyina, reports to the UNFPA Assistant Representative and will work in close collaboration with the Head of Office, Myitkyina.

Job Purpose:
UNFPA’s Fourth Country Programme Document (2018-2022) for Myanmar was approved by the Executive Board in September 2017 and extended up to the end of 2026. The Programme focuses on three key areas of intervention 1) sexual and reproductive health and rights, 2) gender equality and women’s empowerment, and 3) population dynamics. The proposed Country Programme is aligned with the UNFPA’s Strategic Plan (2022-2025) and the United Nations Transitional Cooperation Framework (2024-2025). Youth and adolescents, as well as gender equality and related human rights, are mainstreamed throughout the programme. UNFPA has partnerships with civil society organizations, UN agencies, INGOs and local NGOs, foundations and research institutions. UNFPA has a presence in several priority states/regions, integrating development, peacebuilding and humanitarian interventions.
Emergency preparedness and humanitarian assistance are integrated in UNFPA’s work in Myanmar and are an important aspect in the current country programme. UNFPA, in line with its global strategy, contributes to strengthening national capacity to provide sexual and reproductive health services, gender-based violence prevention and response and the use of population and rights-based data in humanitarian settings.
You would be responsible for:
The Programme Analyst, SRHR will perform the following functions, focusing on the achievement of key results:
- In collaboration with partners, contributes substantively to the formulation and design of the country programme and its component projects in line with national and local priorities and according to UNFPA programme policies and procedures.
- Ensures quality of programme / project design incorporating lessons learned, newly developed policies and best practices and establishing appropriate execution and monitoring mechanisms and systems;
- Analyzes and interprets the political, social and economic environment relevant to population and development, sexual and reproductive health, gender equality and adolescents and youth empowerment, and identifies opportunities for UNFPA assistance and interventions;
- Keeps abreast of new policy developments and strategies analyzing policy papers, strategy documents, national plans and development frameworks, and prepares briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks;.
- Expedites and coordinates project implementation establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies facilitating timely and efficient delivery of project inputs and addressing training needs of project personnel;
- Helps create and document knowledge about current and emerging population development trends, SRH, including maternal health, related human rights and gender issues. This will be by analyzing programme, strategies, interventions and approaches and ongoing experience for lessons learned, best practices, and shares with management for use in knowledge sharing and planning future strategies;
- Assists advocacy and resource mobilization efforts of Country Office by preparing relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in donor meetings and public information events;
- Provides technical advice and capacity development in relation to the advancement of SRHR, including maternal health, the professionalization of midwifery and the timely estimation and/or provision of RH commodities, acting as local RHCS focal point;
- Coordinates and/or represents UNFPA in any local platforms on health related matters, including -but not necessarily limited to- humanitarian coordination structures, clusters and, in particular, leading the local SRH Working group.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Advanced degree in health, medical studies, population, demography and/or other related social science field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum two years’ professional experience in the field of SRHR activities, preferably programme/ project management.
- Proven working experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights.
- State of the art knowledge on family planning and contraceptive technologies, including maternal health and experience of working with vulnerable communities.
- Knowledge and understanding of conflict sensitivity and “do no harm” approach is an asset.
Languages:
- Fluency in oral and written English and Myanmar is essential with ability to write clearly and concisely and to compose correspondence and documents in both languages. Knowledge of local languages in UNFPA target states and regions is an asset.
