Job Description

Responsibilities

1. Identify and maintain relationship with relevant key local stakeholders (RRRC, police, army, civil society actors, academia, private sector, etc.) who have the capacity to facilitate and promote IOM’s activities in Bangladesh.
2. Assist with the programme teams in obtaining necessary Government clearance and permissions and maintain a repository of the official correspondences.
3. Promote the participation of relevant national actors and other key stakeholders in events organized, led or coordinated by IOM such as strategic meetings, workshop or trainings as necessary. Organize and/or facilitate those events as needed.
4. Arrange high level meetings with senior Government high ranking military officials as well as corporate or private sector representatives;
5. Undertake continuous research/analysis on the changing of Government policies and priorities and advise IOM Program Managers for the development of relevant project implementation strategies.
6. Advise on protocol matters regarding all communications, correspondences between IOM and the local authorities. Draft and manage those correspondences as necessary;
7. Maintain an updated record of local stakeholders contact details via IOM corporate system;
8. Prepare and disseminate relevant information package and reports about IOM’s activities targeting local stakeholders with a view of fostering their understanding, acceptance and ownership of those activities;
9. Facilitate Government and Embassy officials’ visit in Cox’s Bazar in relation to training, workshops and other relevant events supported by IOM.
10. Perform such other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Social Science, Sociology, Psychology or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
• Practical experience in liaison and protocols with government entities;
• Experience as Government Civil Servant, ideally at Senior Assistant Secretary level;
• Knowledge of structures and functions of national and international organization.
