Responsibilities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Supervise the daily work of the Protection Research Assistant and research volunteers, providing guidance on tasks and adherence to agreed methodologies and ethical standards.

  2. Support media and open-source monitoring by reviewing key developments and preparing consolidated updates for the supervisor.

  3. Liaise with internal colleagues, including sub-units, field teams, and relevant IOM departments, to support smooth communication and information flow.

  4. Support the preparation of study protocols, data collection tools, and analysis frameworks by drafting inputs and assisting with administrative tasks.

  5. Assist in preparing and delivering training materials related to protection research, community engagement, life skills, and accountability.

  6. Support capacity-building of research volunteers and trainers through guidance, coaching, and feedback on assigned tasks.

  7. Coordinate translation processes and check the accuracy and consistency of translated materials with support from volunteers.

  8. Draft internal notes, summaries, and sections of research reports, and assist in preparing external products as requested.

  9. Provide inputs to the development and revision of SOPs and guidance notes.

  10. Maintain working relationships with local partners and stakeholders for information exchange, under guidance of the supervisor.

  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience. 

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting protection or research activities in humanitarian settings, preferably within international organizations.

  • Knowledge of the region and/or country context is an advantage.

  • Familiarity with protection research concept tools (e.g., PIM, PAF) is an advantage.

Required Skills

  • Ability to cooperate and coordinate with other units, implementing partners, NGOs and government departments.
  • Capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written in English and Bengali.
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong writing skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
