For every child, the right to Protection! 

Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS), with technical support from UNICEF, is implementing the third round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) in Kosovo in 2025. The survey covers the general population as well as Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, with a focus on the situation of children, adolescents, women, and families.
Field data collection was completed in December 2025. Data processing, review, and analysis are ongoing, with publication of results planned for May 2026. Kosovo MICS is a critical evidence-generation exercise for national institutions, academia, municipalities, and development partners as it provides reliable, internationally comparable, and disaggregated data, particularly for marginalized and disadvantaged population groups.
To support the finalization of MICS analytical outputs, UNICEF seeks to engage a local consultant to provide high-quality translation and editing services, as well as data table suppression services for key MICS products in Albanian and Serbian.

How can you make a difference? 

Under the overall supervision of the Child Rights Monitoring Specialist, the MICS Translator and Editor will be responsible for translation and editing of specific MICS products which are crucial for finalization of the data sets and development of the final SFR and snapshoots in Albanian and Serbian. The consultant will report to the Child Rights Monitoring Specialist and work closely with the Kosovo MICS coordination team to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to MICS standards.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Translation and editing of the MICS Survey Findings Report (SFR) template from English into Albanian and Serbian. Ensuring correct statistical terminology and alignment with MICS global standards.
2. Translation and editing of the MICS tabulation package, ensuring internal consistency across indicators and modules.
3. Suppression of data tables. Working closely with the MICS technical team during data review and validation to ensure application of agreed statistical disclosure control rules for identification and suppression of cells with small sample sizes or disclosure risks.
4. Translation and editing of the final 2025 MICS Survey Findings Report from English to Albanian and Serbian versions.
5. Translation and editing of MICS Data Snapshots from English to Albanian and Serbian versions and ensuring alignment with the approved SFR and tabulation outputs
Specific deliverables for the consultant are below:
Deliverable 1: MICS SFR template is translated in Albanian; MICS SFR template is translated in Serbian
Specific tasks: Translation and editing of the MICS Survey Findings Report (SFR) template in Albanian; Translation and editing of the MICS Survey Findings Report (SFR) template Serbian
Timeline: Jan-Feb 2026 - 20 working days
Deliverable 2: Tabulation files are translated in Albanian; Tabulation files are edited (as required); Tabulation files are translated in Serbian
Specific tasks: Translation and editing of the tabulation package (11 files) in Albanian; Translation and editing of the tabulation package (11 files) in Serbian.
Timeline: Jan - Mar 2026 - 20 working days
Deliverable 3: Data tables are ready for RO/HQ review. 
Specific Tasks: Suppression of data in the tables /tabulation format in English; Suppression of data in the tables /tabulation format Albanian and Serbian.
Timeline: Feb-Apr 2026 - 15 working days
Deliverable 4: SFR report is finalized both in Serbian and Albanian; Snapshoots in Albanian are finalized.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Minimum requirements:

Education: Advanced University degree in, Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, Epidemiology, or any other related technical field is required.

Work Experience:

- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience proficiency in Albanian, Serbian, and English
- Proven experience in translation and editing of technical or statistical reports
- Familiarity with survey data, statistical tables, and official publications
- Prior experience with MICS, DHS, census data, or similar large-scale surveys is a strong asset
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and incorporate multi-stakeholder feedback
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
