Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Humanitarian Assistance Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Area (CCCM) Coordinator, as applicable,, the successful candidate will focus on providing day-to-day clerical  support in implementation of project activities in response to the migration response in Bosnia and Herzegovina in compliance with IOM and the donors’ financial rules and regulations. The candidate will be responsible for the following tasks: 

  1. Perform clerical duties in support of protection of vulnerable categories of migrants, asylum seekers, potential asylum seekers and/or refugees outside temporary reception facilities in BiH,  support the referrals to specialized institutions, information sharing, distributions of non-food and food items.

  2. Perform clerical duties in support of vulnerability screening and provision of tailor-made humanitarian assistance. 

  3. Support daily communication with officials from Service for Foreigners’ Affairs as assigned. 

  4. Provision of first psychological aid, when needed.

  5. Sharing of relevant information related to capacities and services of temporary reception facilities. 

  6. Liaising with other field actors providing humanitarian assistance outside temporary reception facilities, ensuring that no one is left behind. 

  7. Compliance with UNDSS and OSS regulations related to field work.

  8. Any other tasks as specified by the supervisor.

All duties and responsibilities will be carried out in strict adherence to IOM policies and guidelines, including those related to confidentiality and data protection.

Qualifications

Education
  • Studies in related fields, such as social studies, psychology, political science, international relations, or development studies, with 1 (one) year of professional experience, or

  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 3 (three) years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
  • Work experience in social work, assistance of vulnerable populations, or case management scenarios.

  • Experience in working with foreign nationals, irregular migrants, trafficked persons, children, and/or other vulnerable populations.

  • Experience in counselling, networking, and ensuring access to services.

  • Proficient in computer applications.

  • Good written and spoken communications skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills, high loyalty, ability to work in a multi - cultural environment and good working in team.

  • Driving license is essential for this position.

Skills
  • Knowledge of IOM protection portfolio and protection standards.

  • Good understanding of IOM cross-cutting topics such as: gender-based violence trafficking in human beings, social cohesion, family reunification. 

  • Ability to work in diverse teams and easily adopt to frequently changing dynamics. 

  • Good communication and networking skills.

  • Able to prioritize and manage to deliver results within planned timeline.

  • Driving licence

Languages

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written) and in one of the three official languages spoken in BiH.

DESIRABLE

Desirable working knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Pashtu and other languages spoken by migrants.

IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
